To Our Valued Customers,
We would like to take this opportunity to address the current announcement by Daimler Trucks North America about Sterling Trucks. The news release that states that the Sterling product will no longer be manufactured at the St. Thomas plant at the end of March 2009 is correct. Orders for the Sterling product will cease in January 2009.
However, the parts and service support for the Sterling product will be maintained through the dealer franchises for the remainder of the entire life of the units on the road. We also intend to support our customers during this transition and readjustment period.
DTNA has made the decision based on the global markets and costs. DTNA will be making further information available to the dealer organization as necessary and we will do everything in our power to get this to our valued customers as we receive it.
From our understanding, the Western Star Trucks and Freightliner product will receive support as DTNA has chosen to be a two line product manufacturer.
